Communication learning using the Universal Dictionary at Kumagaya Special Needs School

Kumagaya Special Needs School has been working on "Local and International Problem-Solving Learning" under the commission of the Saitama Prefectural Board of Education. In a class on September 30th, students played the roles of convenience store clerks and restaurant staff and had a simulated experience of communicating using the Universal Dictionary. The lesson involved using a universal dictionary to deal with customers who do not speak Japanese, and was an opportunity to identify issues that could lead to further research. In addition, Kazuki Odaka, a second-year high school student who participated in the study program, will represent Saitama Prefecture in the Shiga Para-Sports 2025 event. He will compete in the 50-meter sprint and softball throw. We wish him the best of luck.
