Tongan songs and dances performed at the "Aichi Expo 20th Anniversary Event"

This year, when the Osaka Expo is being held, marks the 20th anniversary of the Aichi Expo held in Aichi Prefecture in 2005. The Expo site from that time is now known as Moricoro Park, bustling with activity including the Ghibli Park and sports facilities. We were invited by Owariasahi City, which selected the Kingdom of Tonga as a partner country 20 years ago, to take part in a 20th anniversary event, where we performed traditional Tongan dance and song. Mayor Shibata of Owariasahi City attended the exhibition.
The mayor has contributed an article on the city's official website about his memories of the 2005 Aichi Expo.

Our association resumed exchanges with Owariasahi three years ago, and has been helping introduce Tonga at the city's festival and with Tonga learning programs at elementary schools. We will continue to cherish our connections from EXPO 2005 Aichi and continue our exchanges.
