The Japanese Ambassador to Tonga and the Mayor visited Shibukawa Elementary School in Owariasahi City, Aichi Prefecture

On Tuesday, March 17th, Mr. Hisao Inagaki, the Japanese Ambassador to Tonga, accompanied by Mr. Hiroshi Shibata, the Mayor of Owariasahi City, visited Shibukawa Elementary School, with which the city has had a long-standing relationship, and interacted with second-grade students. On February 4th of this year, Ms. Kaori Onoue, who taught music in Tonga as an Overseas Cooperation Volunteer, and President Latu of our association, visited the school and conducted activities to introduce Tongan culture through music. These activities have been featured on the websites of Owariasahi City and Shibukawa Elementary School, as well as in the Chunichi Shimbun newspaper. The exchange between Owariasahi City and the Kingdom of Tonga began with the One City, One Country Friendship Project at the 2005 Aichi Expo. We cherish this connection and will do our best to help ensure that the exchange continues for many years to come.
